Using Paraview Save States for the Yurt

Introduction

  • Paraview can be used to view quite complicated datasets in the Yurt. However, one of the main strength of Paraview is it ability to analyze and preprocess data. Running complicated filters or calculating isosurfaces for surface rendering can take some time, degrading the experience for users in the Yurt. If your data require complicated processing to get useful visualizations, viewers of the data might need to wait for Paraview to do the computation necessary to get your data in viewable form. Fortunately, there is a way to perform this processing offline so that the experience in the Yurt is as seamless as possible: Paraview Save States.

A Toy Example -- Rotating A Bunny

  • This trivial example demonstrates how to use Paraview save states so that one can load a visualization with a viewport calibrated to features of the data.

  • To begin, load the Paraview Yurt UI, according to the instructions on the first part of this page. DO NOT connect to the remote rendering server yet.
