Before class
Download and install the apk flie from this link on your headset: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fW8B4Qiktypq9bsEBRQUfCbLIbNJ89Re/view?usp=sharing
(OPTIONAL) See if passthrough is working on your headset by doing the following:
Open Settings -> Guardian
Open the General tab and enable Double Tap for Passthrough as in the screenshot below
Double tap the right side of your headset with your hand and see if that enables passthrough
Desktop Color Blindness Simulator (5 minutes)
Try the Color Blindness Simulator on this website: Coblis — Color Blindness Simulator – Colblindor (color-blindness.com)
Note how the sample image looks different from the Normal vision mode when you choose the following vision modes:
Red-Blind: Protanopia
Green-Blind: Deuteranopia
Blue-Blind: Tritanopia
Collaborative Viewing of Color Spaces in Video See-through (7 minutes)
Split up into the following groups and open this Google form:
Group 1: Yifei, Dave, Liza, Brian
Group 2: Mohammed, Jakobi, Prof. Laidlaw
Group 3: Yuanbo, Vincent, Camilo
Group 4: Lexi, Melvin, Austin
Open the Vision Simulator app and press the "Passthrough Viewing Environment" button on the Home screen with the right hand trigger (index finger). You should see an environment with 3 point cloud cubes, with the center cube showing what an RGB space looks like for a person without color blindness. The remaining cubes (left and right cubes) represent what the RGB space looks like to people with different types of color blindness.
Task 1
Make sure you can "see" your group members in the passthrough layer!
Decide with your group based on image generation results from the desktop color blindness simulator and Cube 1 which cone(s) may be malfunctioning to cause the particular type of color blindness represented by each of the three remaining cubes. Record your answers in the Google form.
You can pan and zoom using your right hand joystick (Note: tilting the joystick too much may press the "Back To Home" button. The button turns green when it's pressed.)
Collaborative Viewing of Color Spaces in a Photon-based Environment (7 minutes)
Go back to the home screen and press the "Photon Viewing Environment" button with the right hand trigger (index finger). You should see an environment similar to the one you saw in the video see-through mode, but without the passthrough layer. As in the passthrough environment, the center cube shows what an RGB space looks like for a person without color blindness. The remaining cubes represent what the RGB space looks like to people with different types of color blindness.
Task 2
See if you can find your team members in the collaborative viewing space.
As in task 1, decide with your group which cone(s) may be malfunctioning to cause the particular type of color blindness represented by each of the three remaining cubes. Record your answers in the Google form.
You can pan and zoom using your right hand joystick (Note: tilting the joystick too much may press the "Back To Home" button. The button turns green when it's pressed.)
Task 3
Take a screenshot with all three cubes visible
Fill out the rest of the Google Form (6 minutes)
