Description
Flow Immersive is a virtual reality data visualization tool that lets users explore complex data sets in an immersive and engaging way. With Flow Immersive, you can create interactive 3D visualizations that can be experienced in virtual reality, allowing you to better understand the relationships and patterns within the data. The platform supports importing data from a variety of sources and offers a variety of templates and tools to create custom visualizations that can be experienced in a VR environment.
Highlights
Users can create custom 3D simulations and visualizations, import data from a variety of sources, and customize the look and feel of their visualizations.
Allows users to create interactive narratives that guide viewers through a series of data visualizations, making it easier to communicate complex ideas and insights to a non-technical audience.
Collaboration tools that allow multiple users to work on the same project simultaneously and share visualizations with others.
Application areas include globlal climate, air pollution, population, covid-19 visualizations, etc. Great for storytelling with data.
Lowlights
Can use Brown account email to create account for creating VR Flows but otherwise only tutorial version available for free
Codebase is very closed source so could be difficult to embed into GitHub, Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.
Metrics
Accessibility: The estimated time for someone to create a simple data visualization in VR (with already cleaned dataset!)
Beginner: No coding or graphics experience |30 min
Intermediate: Some coding or graphics experience | 15 min
Advanced: Both coding and graphics experience | 10 min
Expert: A lot of experience with computer graphics | 5 min
Power: The engine's power - i.e. how much one can do with this
High: Accessible to beginners but capable of displaying large CSVs in multiple immersive formats
Usage: Evaluation of software's use for the following purposes
Scientific visualization - simple, intuitive and easy to input data
Final Thoughts
Ideal for storytelling and interactive data presentations.
Intuitive use and comprehensive documentation and tutorials.
Collaboration through in-person model or via virtual meeting.
Costly and closes
