An optotype is any letter or symbol used on an eye chart or visual acuity test. A sentence optotype is a version of this that relies on standardized sentences for measuring acuity. When testing functional reading ability at different scales or within varying conditions, these can often be useful for providing a neutral, standardized tool. The RADNER charts provide 28 of these sentences, each of them selected for standardized reading speed, accuracy, formatting, grammar, text difficulty, sentence length, and word length. RADNER charts are often expensive to acquire, but some example sentences have been released publicly. 22 of these sentences are documented here to be used for evaluative purposes.
Each sentence should have justified spacing and a sans-serif font, with the line breaks placed at the same spots they are presented on this page.
