WWF Free Rivers is an augmented reality experience that brings landscapes into a user's home. Through this experience, users are taught how river's flow impacts the lives of nearby people and wildlife. Users can also simulate cutting off water through dams, to see how it impacts the surrounding environment.
Free Rivers is also available on the app store for iPhone. The latest version is 1.3.1, and was last updated in 2019. The rating was a 3.6 out of 5 stars. Many reviews report bugs. One bug is that the tabletop view doesn't properly anchor to a real-world object, so if you move the model moves as well. Other complaints are about there not being any agency. Rather than simulating your own changes to the environment, you go through a set storyline. Overall, the idea was well received, but the execution from bugs to how users actually interact with the scene needs some polish.
