Virtualitics is a data visualization platform usable in both desktop and VR. The Virtualitics Immersive Platform (also known as VIP) enables companies and organizations to discover key insights about their data through a combination of machine learning, immersive visualization, and a collaborative shared virtual environment.

Data Sources/Format

Local Data Files

The following filetypes are supported by Virtualitics: CSV, Excel, Text, JSON, VIP. Users may select specific columns from the imported tabular data to visualize on the software. Virtualitics also supports Network (Graph) Data formats through specifically configured CSV files and JSON files.

Remote Sources

You can either load in data (filetypes described above) from an URL, or connect to a remote database (MySQL, SQLServer, Redshift, Postgres, Hadoop-Hive or Impala). You can also connect to data sources which there exists a OpenDatabaseConnectivity driver. For more information, click here.

VIP Project Files

You can save the state of the data analysis as a VIP file format, which you will be able to open later and resume where you left off.

VR Controls

Although controls differ across the different VR headset platforms, there are some buttons that have the same functionality across most headsets:

Public Room (able to join rooms with people outside of your organization)
Private Room (able to restrict the room to people inside of your organization)

Whenever hosting a room, a key will be generated so that other people can join your room.


Manipulation of data

Users can interact with the same data model by enabling collaborator mode.

Voice Chat

A built-in voice chat feature allows users to interact with each other.

Accessibility: The estimated time for someone to load and start visualizing data in VR

  • Beginner: No coding or graphics experience | < 1 hour

  • Intermediate: Some coding or graphics experience | < 30 mins

  • Advanced: Both coding and graphics experience | < 30mins

  • Expert: A lot of experience with VR visualization | < 30mins

  • Takeaway: Since this product is usable without having to code, the software is friendly to people of all technical backgrounds. However, the process will be smoother if you have at least some technical knowledge/background.

Power: The engine's power - i.e. how much one can do with this

  • High - This product is very versatile with many features that allow for visualizing data in many different ways.

Usage: Evaluation of software's use for the following purposes

  • Statistical Analysis - great way to visualize data in 3D and find trends through VR. Product includes many modes of plotting, as well as ability to do a PCA.

  • Geospatial Data Analysis


All offered APIs (other than the SQL import API) are not available in VR mode as of 2/22/2021).


The user is able to choose from a selection of around 20 avatars. the customization of avatars is not yet available.
