Installation Instructions-
While installing these softwares, please record the time it took to install.
Nanome-
Follow the installation steps here
In Oculus quest, launch the Nanome Application.
Watch the Tutorials to get a head start.
Once in lobby, click on sign Up and Create your account.
ExMicroVR-
In paperspace, Go to this link and Click on Application Installer Download. Follow the instruction directions and when completed the ExMicroVR should be visible in Windows Start Menu.
In this link, Go to "Sample Expansion Microscopy Multichannel Image Stacks" and click on Sample Image Download.
Activity 1- Nanome(20 minutes)-
For this activity, we will be working in groups of two.
Groups for in-class activity-
Group 1: Michael, Ethan
Group 2: Kota, David
Group 3: Shenandoah, Rachel
Group 4: Melis, George
Group 5: Alejandro, Paul
Group 6: Ross, Laila
Once in the lobby, one of the group member should click on "Create Room" -> Enter Room Name and Display Name -> Start. The other person should select that room and join.
3. From the menus in left wrist watch, select Settings and check if you are unmuted and adjust other settings. You should be able to communicate with your partner now.
Only the presenter can access the structure and presenter changes every 2 minutes to allow everyone to work collaboratively.
4. To Style your Avatar- Click Y -> Actions -> Settings -> Design Avatar and style your avatar.
5. To load Data- Click on Load and Select a Workspace and press load button. Similarily, select a molecule and load.
6. Try to move the structures and menus, change size of structures and teleport around.
7. Select- Click on Select from the menu and try selecting parts of structure using different selection options. You can also do this by pressing B -> Select (Decide which type of select) and start selecting parts of the structure.
8. Select Color from the menu and try changing color. Try different options in Modify.
9. Select Display from the menu -> Atom and try different display styles for selected parts.
10. Press B and explore measure(Measure distance by selecting atoms one by one), Whiteboarding, run Macro from menu, etc.
11. Click a selfie with your creation. On left wrist -> Click on Camera icon.
Activity 2 ExMicroVR(10 minutes)-
Unzip downloaded dataset.
Open Stem VR and run Ex Micro VR from start menu.
Click on Browse Folder and Select the path for dataset.
Both the team member should have loaded the same dataset.
Collaborate by clicking on Begin Collab(on upper right side of channels menu) and share the name of your room with the collaborator. Make sure the name of room is in All CAPS and both the team members enter the same name.
6. Add INA, SYP, TH, etc. channels and observe mouse striatum.
7. Change settings and explore the image stack.
8. To exit, press Exit Button at the bottom of Control pannel.
